Call for nomination:
In the context of H.E. President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s Championship of Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) in Africa, Egypt launched the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development during its Presidency of the African Union in 2019.

The forum is a high-level platform that advances home-grown solutions to address the challenges facing the African continent by strengthening interlinkages between peace, security and sustainable development through long-term innovative solutions and robust partnerships.

In the lead up to the Fourth Edition of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, titled: “Africa in a Changing World: Re-envisioning Global Governance for Peace & Development”, scheduled to take place in Cairo on 2-3 July 2024, the Aswan Forum is launching “The Aswan Forum Award for Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD)” to recognise and bring forward African-owned innovative solutions and responses to the continent’s most pressing challenges.

The Aswan Forum Award for Post-Conflict Reconstruction & Development honors an African individual (leader, policy-maker, practitioner, community leader), organization, initiative or project that has made a substantial contribution to the pursuit of peace, security and development in their respective community, country, region, or issue area. It aims to contribute to bridging the gap between policy and practice.

Thematic areas:
Peace and security, with a focus on conflict prevention, peacebuilding, post-conflict reconstruction and development, governance, security, combating terrorism, disarmament, demobilization and reintegration, transitional justice and reconciliation, women and youth, humanitarian and emergency assistance, and environmental actions, with careful consideration to be given to initiatives that integrate a gender and youth-sensitive lens.

Nominations for the 2024 Aswan Forum Award for Post-Conflict Reconstruction & Development (PCRD) are now open. Candidates who fit the eligibility criteria can nominate themselves/their institutions for the award through filling the nomination form available below. Nominations should be submitted by email to secretariat@aswanforum.org by 24 June 2024.

Nominations will be reviewed by the Forum’s Secretariat, who will shortlist and identify finalists.

The Award shall be presented during the Fourth Edition of the Aswan Forum in Cairo. Recipients will have the opportunity to present their work/initiative at the Forum’s Fourth Edition, to the different leaders and policymakers present.
